The Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre is a new integrated cancer centre adjacent the existing Albury Hospital, created to consolidate and expand existing cancer treatment services in the region.
Comprising 8,000m2 over 3 levels, this building includes 2 internal courtyards, 3 radiotherapy bunkers and a link bridge to the existing hospital. Irwinconsult designed the suspended floors utilising Bubbledeck which provided a semi precast slab system with cast in voids (“bubbles”) to reduce volume of concrete, limit on-site activities, increase speed of construction and provide flexibility for installation of services. The radiotherapy bunkers, with wall and ceiling thicknesses up to 2.4m deep, were designed as a semi precast system to reduce on site formwork and propping.
