Deakin University’s Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training (CADET) at Waurn Ponds is a $30 million facility providing state-of-the-art and purpose-built interactive laboratories and learning environments to project the creativity, imagination and research required to solve modern engineering issues.

Located on an existing sloped car park, Irwinconsult provided structural and civil engineering services with the latest 3D modelling and clash detection playing an important part in the design and construction. Large column-free spaces were created by incorporating a mixture of composite and post-tensioned concrete design. The striking façade used expressed structural steelwork and large overhanging eaves adding high levels of shading. Renders courtesy of Gray Puksand
