The Loreto Mandeville Centre is a new 4,430 m2 hub created for the school community at Loreto Mandeville Hall in Toorak. Acting as a link to all school operations, the building consists of three levels built above a basement car park. The ground level includes school reception, administration offices and staff centre while a new Learning Resource Centre is located on Level 1 and Year 12 centre on Level 2. Additional features of the Mandeville Centre include a lecture theatre accessible from the main entry, informal learning spaces dispersed throughout and an atrium that works as a connector between internal spaces, fostering communication and community.
Irwinconsult provided all structural, civil, building services and ESD engineering for this project project which was designed with a low energy and sustainable philosophy. Employing LED lighting, VRF air conditioning and rainwater collection, an advanced shading design was also implemented to provide an efficient building envelope that ensures sufficient daylight and student comfort. Photography by Trevor Mein
