Irwinconsult are continuing to provide specialist engineering services to Melbourne Airport on a number of ongoing strategic planning and infrastructure projects.
Since 2010, Irwinconsult has worked with Melbourne Airport on infrastructure planning projects including the modelling of the water and sewer systems, master planning for several water supply projects and the design of the $3.2m Southern Pump Station, which was moved from the Energy Services Building to the Long Term Carpark.
The Long Term Car Park Expansion called for the design and construction a new 2,000 bay staff car park, reconfiguration of the existing staff car park for the for long term customer parking, reconfiguration of Taxi Holder Area and extension of Francis Briggs Road dual carriageway road. Irwinconsult provided civil and electrical engineering design that included bulk earthworks, major trunk drainage infrastructure, pavements and road design, street and car park lighting and service coordination.
The Contractors Compound Facility at the top end of South Centre Road in the Melbourne Airport Business Park will provide laydown yards for contractors working at the airport. The 7 hectare facility currently in construction will accommodate a number of contractors, each in their own separate compounds, car parking for 860 construction workers, a common user bus stop. A haul road will also be built and utilised as a staging area for all heavy and light vehicles with deliveries scheduled for all the construction sites on airport.
Southern Pump Station the project involved the decommissioning and relocation of the existing combined fire and domestic water pumping station to an alternative site location in order to improve the efficiency of water delivery to the airport precinct. The scope of works for this project involved the turnkey provision of multi-disciplinary services and included civil engineering design, structural engineering design and the provision of mechanical & electrical consultancy services.
