Ormond College’s, The Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship, is a new home for University of Melbourne’s Master of Entrepreneurship that actively encourages experimentation, innovation and unconventional learning for Australia’s next generation of businesses leaders.
Post-tensioned concrete roof terrace and tennis courts are supported on a seemingly impossible light wire structure of columns, both externally and internally, giving an impression of movement and light. The same wire structure cantilevers above the roof to form the court fencing and balustrades. For a structural engineer, the columns may look like someone forgot the concrete, but the effect is striking and adds to the drama and creativity of the space.
