The construction of the new four-level building to accommodate St Leonard’s College, year 5 and 6 centre at the Brighton campus, utilised advanced energy efficient technology.
With our extensive experience in sustainable design, Irwinconsult were appointed to provide all building services engineering, vertical transportation and civil engineering for this complex project. The design and construction included an undercover car park at ground level, first and second floor classrooms and roof terrace. Energy efficient designs, advanced control systems and renewable energy systems were achieved by the use of a 2kW photovoltaic system integrated into the roof structure, advanced lighting control, energy and water consumption monitoring system with screens displaying building performance data, cooling only split units with hydronic radiator heating and hybrid ventilation.
