With Melbourne gearing up for its first Olympic Games in 1956, the winning entry for the Melbourne Olympic Pool, from our founder Bill Irwin, along with the architectural team of McIntyre, Borland and Murphy made a huge splash as they competed for the opportunity to build the most coveted project of its time.

Now known as the Westpac Centre and home of the Collingwood Football Club, the unique design credentials of this project included post tensioned steel elegantly proportioned and refined to a minimalist structure, that still stands proud today. Irwinconsult are also proud to have been associated with all of the subsequent redevelopments into the State Indoor Sport Centre, the Glasshouse and more recently, the training base for the VIS and Collingwood.
